In preproduction

Right now I am primarily focused on Egg & David’s wedding video. I have logged all the video on my computer and I have worked out a basic plan for layout and DVD creation. The vows sequence has been laid out. I have to work on the brightness/contrast and sound. I will probably wait until I lay out more of the wedding clips.

The Disney video is on hold. I still need some still photos of: Aunt Claire, Kirsten, Jimmy, Uncle Greg, Aunt Suzanne, Nana, Poppop, uh, everyone except the kids. (If there are really great pix of the kids I will try to use them. I am requesting pix of everyone else because right now the video is about 90% Jessie, Zane & Zoe and I’d like to include as much of the family as possible in the final video-even though JZ2 make for fun video shots).

Other projects include: my trip to Ireland, the New Hampshire flood of October 2005, New Years Eve 2004/2005 at Seyon Ranch, various birthday parties, The Big Clean-up (me removing all the trash certain meanies dumped in the backyard), and the dogs playing in the snow. I will make DVDs for the wedding, Ireland and Disney with some clips on this Website. Most of the other footage will be Website exclusives. (There may be a DVD or two made up of special clips from the other video projects). I’m thinking of doing a short on dance sequences. I have some nice stuff: couples first dances, kids being cute, some of my friends doing an Irish jig in Ireland, Chris embarrassing himself at Seyon. Ok. Maybe not that last one.

I’m also thinking of doing a before and after sequence to show those who are interested a little bit about the digital non-linear desktop editing process. I’ll start with a sequence from one of the bigger video projects that hasn’t been edited or cleaned up. I’ll then take you through the process to the finished product.

So there will be a lot to see in the (near?) future.

Cross-blogging

Well, because of my problems uploading videos to OurMedia, I tried Blip.tv per suggestion of Freevlog. It seems to be working. What has happened now is that I have two video blogs. Signing up at Blip.tv also included creating a blog so when I upload something there it creates a blog entry. When I realized this, I wasn’t quite sure what to do about it. I really don’t want to redirect everyone there: it would be confusing plus I just like the look of this blog more.

Blip.tv has a feature called cross-blogging. When I upload a video there, I am asked to write a description of the video. That becomes the blog entry. I have the option, during this process, to cross-blog to throwthegoatproductions. That means whatever I create at Blip automatically gets posted here. I did this when I fixed my logo.

I’m not sure how much I like this. I may try it a few more times to determine whether cross-blogging is worthwhile in my situation. What this means for you is that some things may look a little weird; more likely that there will be an inconsistency in style while I work out the aesthetics of cross-blogging.

So please bear with me. At least the videos work now. Wait, they do, don’t they? Well, if you run into any problems – whether it is watching a video or reading text – please leave a comment. Of course, if the Comments Section is broke, you can e-mail me.

Some sequels are better than the predecessor

As with my logo, I attempted to re-upload this video of Briella on Blip.tv. It seemed to work there, so now I'm going to link the video to this site. It should not take unusually long for the video to start playing for you. If you still have a problem, leave a comment. Also, this is the longer version so it will take a few minutes to get to the best part.

Briella is walking now. She still wobbles quite a bit. If we get video of her walking, I'll post it as soon as I can.

Oh, you can click the picture for the video or you can click HERE.

My wicked cool logo

Watch the video
So this is my logo. And this is my second try at uploading so my family & friends can see it. I developed this (very basic) logo in one of my classes at the School of Continuing Studies at NYU. Some day (after I finish all the other projects on my list) I plan on jazzing it up a bit. But for now, this will do.
